Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Dowson is hunting for some experience to give his young side some guidance in the battle against relegation.

The Beveree chief saw his side fire blanks in a 0-0 draw at fellow Ryman Premier League strugglers Lewes, with the usually reliable Charlie Moone missing a couple of good opportunities.

Dowson, who is now happy with his centre back pairing of Matt Drage and captain Kieran Murphy, is in the market for an experienced midfielder and a centre forward to strengthen the spine of his team.

Young forward Ben Harris is not expected to return to action from an injury lay-off until the end of the month, while Saheed Sankoh remains suspended.

And Dowson believes that once he has plugged the gaps his squad - unbeaten in the league since a 2-1 defeat to Billericay Town before Christmas - will steer clear of the drop.

"This is the youngest team I have ever managed," said the manager, who is keen to secure two signatures ahead of the weekend.

"I'm all for playing the youngsters, but we have only really got two experienced heads in Charlie [Moone] and Kieran [Murhpy].

"It is great having young and enthusiastic players, but you need some know how too.

"I'm ringing everyone I know to get someone to play in the middle of the park and up top."

Hampton, who agreed a deal to train at Kingston University this week, host Harrow Borough on Saturday before entertaining title-chasing Maidstone United on Tuesday and play-off hopefuls Dulwich Hamlet next weekend.

And Dowson, without a win since November 22, knows three points are vital after three draws in a row.

"Harrow is a massive game for us. If we win it has been a good start to 2015, but if we lose it puts more pressure on us," he added.

"These are the games you play football for.

"We are making progress. We are better than when I took over - the league table tells you that."

And Dowson believes changing the training ground will be another step in the right direction.

"We trained at Kingston University when I was at Kingstonian and it was a massive part of the success I had there," he added.

"It is a big step to move there and I think it will make a big difference to us now and over the last 15 games of the season.

"It shows the club is ready to move forward."
