What is good enough for Premier League Crystal Palace is not good enough for Championship outfit Brentford – so it seems.
Keshi Anderson’s move to Selhurst Park from non-League Barton Rovers was the talk of the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old, who plundered 19 league goals for Rovers this season, caught the attention of Palace staff with a six-minute second half hat-trick against the Eagles’ development side while on trial with the Bees last week.
But while Brentford development squad manager Lee Carsley reckoned Anderson was one to keep an eye on at the time, he did not impress Bees boss Mark Warburton enough to secure a deal at Griffin Park.
“He came on and did well, but you cannot judge a player too much on just his performance in a trial match,” he said.

“He came in, did well and scored a hat-trick, but he was not right for us.”
Meanwhile, Palace boss Alan Pardew said: "It’s a great opportunity for him. He has taken a similar route to me in that he started in non-League.
“Hopefully now he can make progress, a six-minute hat-trick is good but what he has at the moment is a chance to do well with us.”
