Sutton United boss Paul Doswell says fans deserve a far better performance than the players offered up in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Gosport Borough at Gander Green Lane.
The reverse means United have collected just five points from the past 24, leaving them 15th in the Conference South table.
Doswell said: “I have spent time protecting players, but I cannot do it anymore.
“The club, fans and I deserve better than that, and a far better season.”
He added: “They’re paid decent money here and that is another dreadful home performance.
“They’re trying, but then we could all try – it’s just not good enough.”
United go to Eastbourne Borough this weekend.
