AFC Wimbledon fans have given boss Neal Ardley their full backing for next season in a poll carried out by this website.

Out of 158 responses to the question: “Is Neal Ardley the right man to take the Dons forward?” – 134 voters (85 per cent) responded in the positive.

Only seven (four per cent) wanted Ardley out, while 17 (11 per cent) were undecided.

The backing comes despite an end of season that saw the Dons win just two of the last 13 games.

It would seem the Dons fans value their highest ever points total as proof that Ardley is taking the club in the right direction – a belief borne out in the results of a second poll.

We asked fans to choose their highlight of the season from four options – beating the franchise in their own back yard, running Liverpool close in the FA Cup, doing the double over Portsmouth (especially when Matt Tubbs was playing for them) and the emergence of the academy players.

Top of the tree (out of 170 votes) was the FA Cup clash with Liverpool, chosen by 83 pollsters (49 per cent) as their top moment.

Interestingly, the second best highlight among the forward-thinking fans was the emergence of the academy players with 46 votes (27 per cent), followed by the win at the franchise with 36 votes (21 per cent).

The double win over Portsmouth took only five votes (three per cent).
