More than 1,500 young footballers representing 48 teams descended on Imber Court last weekend for the first ever Met Police Youth FC (MYPFC) tournament.

It was billed as a celebration of the club being awarded Charter Standard Community status by the FA, as well as its links with the senior Met Police side.

The winners on the day were Worcester Park Whites (U8s), Kingston Town (U9s), G4G from Kingston (U10s) and Bracknell Town (U11s).

Andy Ness, the chairman of MPYFC, said: “Running our first annual summer football tournament reinforces how far Met Police Youth have progressed in such a short period of time.

“All the people at the club and our sponsors – who put such a great effort together to run this event – can take pride in the joy on those boys’ and girls’ faces, and the way they all conducted themselves in a very sporting manner.

“A momentous day for our football club, which we look forward to staging again next year.”
