Brentford's ambition for PRemier League football and head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen's determination to land striker Lasse Vibe was the reason behind the Danish international's switch to Griffn Park last week.

Vibe made his Bees debut in Saturday's 2-0 win over Stoke City having signed from Swedish giants IFK Gothenburg on Friday.

The 28-year-old bagged 31 goals in 56 appearances in two seasons on top flight Swedish football and had been the subject of a £2million approach from Reading in January.

Midfielder Josh McEachran, recently ruled out for three months with a foot injury, revealed last week that a house visit from Dijkhuizen persuaded him to call time on his 15-year stay at Chelsea earlier this month.

And Vibe admitted it was that sort of commitment to get his signature - and the presence of fellow Dane Amdres Bjelland - that swayed him to sign for the Championship promotion hopefuls.

"Brentford showed big interest in me and for me, in my career, it has been best to go where they really wanted me," he told the club's webiste.

"They showed interest and commitment to bring me here.

"It is a good level for me and one where I can play good from day one.

"It is a good club. It is serious and has good ambitions and that is the main reason why I chose Brentford.

"I had two great years in Sweden where I played mainly as a striker in a 4-4-2 formation, but also as a winger.

"When I play as a striker I score goals and that is what it is all about. But I also like to get assists and create goals for other players."
