Carshalton Athletic defender Adriano Moraes hopes Saturday's comprehensive victory against Sittingbourne shows the fans what is possible this season.

The Robins faithful watched goals by Craig Mullen, Adam Thompson and Jordan Higgs, plus a first clean sheet of the campaign, as their team stretched a winning streak to three games.

And Moraes, who skippered the side en route to victory, thinks there is more to come as Ryman Division One South matches continue to approach thick and fast.

"I've been here three seasons and the competitiveness within the squad is the best I've experienced. Everyone will need to stay at the top of their game and that will only benefit the club," he said.

"We enjoyed this result but I hope the supporters liked it more, especially after the disappointment of the opening day home defeat."

The victory was earned in scorching hot temperatures and Moraes believes, despite 3-0 being Carshalton's best result so far this season, the performance was not quite as good as the one given in defeat at Guernsey two weeks ago.

He said: "I think overall we played better against Guernsey as perhaps the heat meant we stepped off the gas a little in the second-half, but, in all honesty, we had the game won by that point."

Carshalton make the short trip to Tooting & Mitcham United this evening (Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm) and Moraes is keen to keep the club's momentum going.

"We are happy to be playing two games a week right now as it keeps us sharp and focused," he said.

"We go into the Tooting game full of confidence and in better form, so we'll be looking to continue our recent away resurgence."
