Neal Ardley is not worried where AFC Wimbledon finish in the League Two table, so long as it is in the play-offs.

The Dons need just two more points from three remaining games to be assured of a play-off spot after Lyle Taylor scored his 20th league goal of the season to beat Leyton Orient 1-0.

A win against Portsmouth tomorrow night (Tuesday) would send the Dons above Pompey into sixth place, but that is of no concern to Ardley.

He said: “I’m not worried about getting in front of Portsmouth, I’m really not.

“If we beat them the only thing I’ll be worried about won’t be the fact that we’re sixth it’ll be the fact that we’re there.

“We now need 73 points as it stands to be guaranteed and we’ve got three games to get there, I’m not worried about who we play if we do get there, we’ve just got to get there as quickly as we possibly can."

Ardley knows his team have not crossed the line yet and is not necessarily banking on doing so against Portsmouth.

He added: “I’m not confident of anything yet. I’m just confident that we’ve got a hard working bunch of lads and in three more games if they carry on with the way they’re going that they’re more than capable of getting two more points.”

Saturday's result is the Dons' the fifth consecutive win, and in that time they have conceded just two goals - at Wycombe and Plymouth.

The run has also bagged Taylor six goals, including Saturday's winner.

It all means Ardley's praise falls on more than one pair of shoulders.

He said: “I thought our two centre backs were absolutely immense, but they can’t do it on their own, the front players worked their socks off.

“We’re all in, there’s no airs and graces with our squad, everyone has to work their socks.

“That’s why we kept a clean sheet and why we have been.”
