Yohan Cabaye believes Crystal Palace’s struggles in the second half of the season mirror his own form for the Eagles.

Alan Pardew’s side started the campaign in superb fashion and were tipped as potential European contenders before Christmas.

However, Palace suffered a dramatic loss of form in the New Year, going 14 league games without a win.

Cabaye reckons his personal form has reflected Palace’s, admitting that fatigue may have played a part in recent months.

When asked about the season from a personal point of view, Cabaye said: “The same as the team. The first part was good, I was in good form, I was fit, and the second part was more difficult.

“With PSG, I'd be on the bench, play a little bit, play again, stay on the bench, and again.

“[Here, at Palace] to play every weekend, maybe from January I started to get tired, but now I'm good, in good shape, and ready to rumble on Saturday and finish the season well.

“It's been a frustrating season, because we could have done better, maybe, in the second part of the season, and finished higher in the league.”

Palace’s summer signing hit the ground running with all five of his league goals coming before Christmas.

However, Cabaye has remained a key figure throughout the season and has completed the highest number of successful passes for the club while also winning more tackles than any other Palace player.

Despite this, Cabaye admits he could have performed better in order to help the Eagles recover from their slump.

He added: “Because I know myself, I know that especially for the second part of the season we lost a few games where we were beating the team but lost in the end.

“I like to watch myself, especially when we lose a game, and try to see what I could have done better.

“I'm like this, I have had this mentality since I was young and it has helped me a lot. That's football.”
