Crystal Palace brought the curtain down on their US tour last night with a 2-2 draw against Vancouver Whitecaps.

It means the Eagles return from their transatlantic exploits unbeaten, having drawn 0-0 with Philadelphia Union, and beaten FC Cincinnati 2-0.

Fraizer Campbell hit both goals in last night’s draw, while Jordon Mutch and Wilfried Zaha were on target in the win over FC Cincinnati.

The tour was not only about regaining match fitness after the summer break, and assistant boss Keith Millen revealed another side to the games.

He told cpfc: “We tried a different shape [3-5-2] to experiment and we only had two days to do that, so we knew it wouldn't be perfect.

"If you look at the Euros this summer, teams like Italy and Wales were playing that [formation] and we feel that in the Premier League this year some teams might adopt that style.

“We felt we needed to know that if we go to that shape that we know how to play it.”

He added: "It's always good to be flexible in what you try to achieve, but whether we continue with it in the season it remains to be seen."

Palace are next in action at Colchester United on July 25 (7pm) and AFC Wimbledon on July 27 (7pm).
