Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Dowson says there is no pressure on him to deliver a lucrative FA Cup run despite being the closest he has ever been to reaching the first round proper as a manager.

The Beavers head to Evo-Stick Southern League South & West Taunton Town in the third qualifying round on Saturday knowing they are ripe for a cup shock having beaten Hungerford Town 3-1 at the weekend to sit second in National League South.

Back in the groove: Jay Gasson was on the scoresheet for Hampton on Saturday

The winners will collect £7,500 and the chance to play for a possible first round tie with a former Premier League side in the form of now League One Charlton Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Coventry City.

But Dowson, who is growing accustomed to his side’s lofty position, is not thinking beyond tomorrow.

“This is the furthest I have been in the competition because we joined it so late,” he said.

“The tea bag stays in the cup longer than I do.

“Like anybody else we want a good cup run, but we want a good league run as well and that is what we’ve got at the moment.

“We’re not building anything up and while it can be lucrative we are certainly not thinking about the money.

“We’ve had them watched and got a report on them and I would fancy us against anyone, anywhere.”

Dowson, who saw Brendan Kiernan, Jay Gasson and Nicke Kabamba find the net at the weekend, will be without the suspended Christian Jolley and Nathan Collier for the trip to Somerset.

“We will miss players like them but Shaq [Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick] has come in and done well and with Gass [Jay Gasson] back in the team we are looking really strong,” added the manager.
