AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley has made his third addition to the team this season by signing Cody McDonald, the club has announced.

The former Coventry and Norwich City striker was landed by the Dons ‘after a long pursuit’ and now commits to the Kingsmeadow when his deal starts on July 1.

McDonald, 31, scored 48 goals in 151 appearances in a four-year spell at Gillingham before deciding to switch to the south London.

He is said to be ‘delighted’ to be joining the club on its campaign in Sky Bet League One, with a trip to Scunthorpe United away on Saturday August 5 first on the calendar.

He said: “I am absolutely buzzing. It has taken a little while to get the deal over the line with holidays and that, but we set today for me to come in and get it done.

“I am really looking forward to joining up with the lads on Monday and getting going.”
