Dons caretaker manager delighted with players' reaction
AFC Wimbledon caretaker manager Simon Bassey was delighted with the players' reaction to Terry Brown's sacking as a week to forget culminated in three League Two points at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
Bassey said that Sammy Moore's solitary strike gave the Dons "just what they deserved" and summed up the "professional attitude of the players".
Brown was sacked as manager on Wednesday, leaving Bassey to take first team training on the Thursday morning.
Bassey said: "Thursday was a difficult day – the chairman came and addressed the players and told them what the situation was.
"I just asked the players to remember that they are professional footballers and they have jobs to do.
"As much as everyone loved Terry and enjoyed working for him, life goes on and we had to put an end to a bad sequence of results.
"I have asked them to work hard and stay positive and they have done that. They showed a great attitude in training and we got our just rewards on Saturday."
He added: "Today the place is a different place and everyone is looking forward to this weekend. Everyone was really pleased and the players are smiling this morning and obviously I am really pleased we got a win."
