AFC Wimbledon winger Sean Rigg enjoyed an impressive start for his new club scoring a debut goal in his first League Two game, a 2-2 draw to Shrewsbury Town.

However, despite having only been at the Cherry Red Records stadium for three months, the 25-year-old is in line to take his place in the Dons' fiercest rivalry.

Rigg and his clubmates take the journey up the M1 to the Franchise tonight (Tuesday) in the Capital One Cup first round.

And he is aware of the significance of the tie and is relishing the challenge.

The two sides met for the first time in a FA Cup second round match in 2012, Dons fans had their hearts broken that day by a last-gasp winner.

Ahead of the trip to Milton Keynes, Rigg said: “It’s going to be a great game for us and a massive game for the fans.

“It’s a big pitch up there and they pass it around well.

“We will be looking at where we can hurt them and how we can deal with them. I hope we make it a good game.”

Ardley’s side are much changed from the one that lost in 2012 as not a single member of the squad that day featured in last weekend’s season opener against Shrewsbury Town.

Captain Alan Bennett is doubtful for the tie after suffering a head injury against the Shrews and was due to have an assessment yesterday.

Elsewhere, fellow defender Adam Barrett is ineligible due to being on loan from Gillingham.
