When we talk about AFC Wimbledon we have a tendency to default to one particular group— the men’s senior team.

But there’s another team wearing our badge that doesn’t get talked about enough.

AFC Wimbledon Ladies have had a fantastic season so far. They’re currently in second place in the London & South East Regional Women’s League Premier Division, five points behind Fulham with a game in hand.

A few weeks ago they also notched an impressive 2-0 win over Crystal Palace Ladies to advance to the semi-finals of the Surrey Women’s Cup.

The ladies development team are no slouches either. They’re currently top of the table in their division with a massive game against second place Northwood this Sunday.

Wimbledon Ladies also field several youth teams, from U16s down, with plans to expand at the U11 and U12 level next season.

First team manager Chris Lyons has revitalised the team since coming in, building the women’s side into an outfit that’s seeking glory.

The women who wear AFC Wimbledon’s shirt are talented, hard-working and committed to the club. And with a division title within reach, they’re well worth getting behind.

So, some Sunday afternoon in the next month or so, head out to the Archbishop Tenison's School sports ground in New Malden and sing for the Lady Wombles.

They’re your team, too.
