Adebayo Akinfenwa was left frustrated after his side failed to find the net despite producing a dominant performance against promotion chasers Wycombe Wanderers in a 0-0 draw on Saturday.

The 32-year-old striker headed onto the post in the first-half before directing his diving header just past wide after the break.

Dons are without a League Two win in six games, including five draws and just four goals.

The goalless draw with Wanderers was Dons’ fifth since the beginning of February.

Akinfenwa said: “It’s definitely two points dropped. It’s frustrating because it seems like we come alive when playing against the teams up there.

AFC Wimbledon boss: Referee cost us the points

“No disrespect to Wycombe, but we played them off the park so we are disappointed.

“I don’t think our keeper had a shot to save and we had numerous chances, but speaking as a striker, I think we got to be more clinical in the box.”

Akinfenwa was twice denied a penalty and the Dons also had a goal disallowed at the start of the second half when he was judged to have held onto his marker before Craig Tanner headed the ball into the net.

Akinfenwa said: “They keep talking about simulation and diving, but I don’t go down easily.

“I don’t want to focus on the bad decisions, but I think there were two stonewall penalties and the goal should have stood.

“But it is what it is so we just try to take all the positives from the game.”
