The Dons striker Lyle Taylor wants another FA Cup run so he can join in the dressing room banter.

Taylor has five goals to his name so far this season, including one of the goals in Saturday’s League Two 2-0 win over Hartlepool United.

However, while his team-mates recall last season’s heady night of action against Liverpool ahead of this weekend’s renewed cup campaign, summer signing Taylor is feeling left out.

The Dons host National League leaders Forest Green Rovers on Saturday in the first round proper in a potential banana skin.

But without the pressure of league points, Taylor reckons it is time for the Dons to express themselves.

He said: “It would be amazing to have a cup run.

“I watched the boys play Liverpool and saw Bee [Adebayo Akinfenwa] boss Martin Skrtel about and thought it was funny to be honest.

“While some see it as a distraction, on the flip side it can be a good thing to get away from league football, and just let your hair down.

“Sometimes we all get so caught up in everything it’s good to focus on something else.”

He added: “Without the normal pressure we are under, it means we can relax a little, which can have a great impact on us all.

“We’re not expected to win the FA Cup of course, but we all want to go as far as we can.

“A fair few of the lads still talk about the Liverpool match so would be good to have a conversation of my own to join in with.”
