AFC Wimbledon forward Adebayo Azeez is hungry for more goals after coming on against Wycombe to grab the equaliser.

Azeez came on as part of a triple substitution by manager Neal Ardley with 30 minutes of the match remaining, and stroked home the Dons' leveller from inside the area in stoppage time.

It was the 21-year-old's fourth goal of the season in all competitions, and increased the Dons' unbeaten League Two run to five games.

He said: “It was nice to score, but it was more important that we got something out of the game.

“We’d been on a good run in the league recently and we wanted to carry that on and keep that going, so it was good to get something from the game at the very end.

“I felt at first one of their guys kind of grapple me when the ball went over my head, but luckily Tom [Elliott] was on the move behind me and he managed to challenge the keeper, and then I reacted before the defenders.

“That’s me as a striker, I’m probably going to react quicker, so luckily it bounced right in front of me and I didn’t even have to think about it.

“All I had to do was just get good contact and this could be a goal.”

There were some calls from Wycombe’s players and manager Gareth Ainsworth for a foul on the goalkeeper by Tom Elliott directly before Azeez scored.

However, the Dons frontman did not see it that way.

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley disappointed by weak officials after Wycombe Wanderers drfaw

“To be honest, sometimes I think the keepers get a bit too much protection at times," he said.

“I thought it was there to be won and Tom did the right thing in jumping with the keeper, and luckily the ref made a good decision, I felt personally, and we benefited from that.”

Azeez also praised his manager for the triple change, saying he was happy to come on and make an impact, and is already looking forward to the next game.

He said: “Credit to the gaffer, he saw something and he went with it and stuck with his guns and was proven right as it worked, so we’re happy.

“We take every game as it comes. I look forward to every game, honestly.

“As a striker you know you probably can’t score in every single one but you always have the mentality that going into it you want to score in every game, so come Dagenham on Tuesday we’ll see what happens, and hopefully I can get on the score sheet again and first and foremost we can get a victory.”
