This weekend may not be a case of home comforts for AFC Wimbledon after boss Neal Ardley labelled the Cherry Red Records stadium a “leveller”.
York City, struggling at the wrong end of the League Two table seven points from safety are the visitors as the Dons, vying for a place in the play-offs, look to arrest a run of five games without a win.
Ardley admitted the expectation on the Dons would be three points, although with it came pressure.
“You have a better chance to get three points against them [York] than maybe against Oxford, but they are fighting for their lives down there,” he said.
AFC Wimbledon: Ardley finds the answer to his defensive conundrum
“The one thing I do know is that expectation is not easy to deal with, and there will be a lot on us and we have to cope with that.”
Despite the perceived pressure to win, the match on paper looks very one-sided, but on the pitch Ardley reckons it is a very different matter.
He said: “Our pitch is a leveller at the moment – it’s not good.
“It’s cut-up, bobbly and not in great condition. Ultimately we have to cope with that and when you play teams down the bottom it can be a leveller.”
