Brentford boss Mark Warburton insists the good vibes in the dressing room will not be spoilt by unsuitable signings in the January transfer window.

Following the 3-1 win at Peterborough on New Year’s Day, where goals from Adam Forshaw, Sam Saunders and Clayton Donaldson saw the Bees open a three-point lead at the top of League One, Warburton outlined his transfer strategy.

“There’s a few loans that wind up on Sunday, and we have two or three players, maybe four, lined up,” he said.

“It is important the players add value on and off the pitch.

“We have great harmony in the dressing room and great attitude and spirit among the players and that can’t be spoilt in any way.”

He added: "You'll never get success with just 11 or 14 players. It's always about the squad.

"The players will go away and have a four-day break now and return on Monday."

The win over the Posh was Brentford's fifth consecutive victory in the league, and they have dropped just two points from the past 13 matches.

Warburton said: "Against Peterborough, we looked to move the ball simple, early and quick.

"Jonathan Douglas pulled up feeling his hamstring so we took him off as a precaution. He's the in the hands of the medical staff now.

"Hats off to Toumani Diagouraga. He stepped into the pace of the game and did very well. I asked him to play more of an attacking role than he's used to."

He added: "It's testament to the boys' character to come through that run of five games with five wins. I'm very proud of them."
