A first half Keiran Agard double helped consign Brentford to a 3-0 League One defeat at Rotherham United on Tuesday.

The Millers added a third through Haris Vuckic at the end to complete the double over the Bees and they were well worth their victory, establishing a solid platform during an impressive first half performance.

Despite the Bees enjoying more of the ball during the second half, they failed to find a way back into the game, with Adam Collin rarely troubled in the home goal.

Early on ex-Bees loanee Nicky Adams swung in a cross from the right which David Button comfortably held.

After Brentford worked the ball down the left, Clayton Donaldson's shot from 20 yards was turned round his right hand post by Collin.

The striker then went on a barnstorming run from inside his own half, reaching the byline before his cross to the near post was gathered by Collin.

Nearly a quarter of an hour into the game the Millers were awarded a penalty when Alan Judge was penalised for a foul on James Tavernier on the right of Brentford's box and Agard sent Button the wrong way as he converted the penalty.

Ben Pringle tested Button when he curled in a shot from just outside a crowded box, but the keeper held it comfortably.

The home side threatened again when Adams sent in a teasing cross when Alex Revell headed just over the bar.

Jake Bidwell and Adam Forshaw then combined down the left to set up Jake Reeves in the centre, whose shot was deflected for a corner.

Ten minutes before the break Rotherham were awarded a free kick just outside the box and Tavernier's well struck shot ricocheted off Button's right hand post.

The Bees next chance came when Marcello Trotta picked up the ball on the right hand side of the box, but his shock lacked enough power to trouble Collin.

Rotherham doubled their lead a minute before half time when a break down the left broke to Agard on the edge of Brentford's box and his well struck shot flew past Button for the 24-year-old's 19th goals on the season.

Early in the second half Adams found space down the right flank, but Tony Craig got back to block.

A minute later Agard could have completed his hat-trick when he headed inches over the bar from six yards out.

Brentford's best most of the match saw Reeves combine with Judge, whose cross to the back post was headed into the hands of Collin by Jonathan Douglas.

Lee Frecklington saw his low shot from outside the box deflected for a corner, while shortly after the same player curled an effort just wide of the right hand post.

In stoppage time Haris Vuckic added a third, beating Button at his near post from just inside the box.
