Boss Mark Warburton says the form of midfielder Toumani Diagouraga means his Bees can prosper at Millwall without influential midfielder Jonathan Douglas on Saturday.

Douglas’ questionable second half yellow card was the only low point for Brentford as they put struggling Nottingham Forest to the sword at the City Ground on Wednesday.

It was the Irishman’s fifth booking of the season and means he will sit out the weekend’s action as his side goes to the Den in search of a third straight Championship victory.

Diagouraga, recently restored to the starting line-up, was a key performer in Saturday’s last-gasp 2-1 triumph over Derby County at Griffin Park and was a towering presence in midfield.

And Warburton has backed the Frenchman, pictured, who is sweating on a new contract, to keep the momentum going.

“Of course you are going to miss a midfield player like Jonathan Douglas, but that is why I have always said you need a squad,” he said.

“We have got players waiting and champing at the bit to come in.

“Toumani has shown a great attitude and has been a real pro.”

And striker Andre Gray echoed his kmanager's sentments.

"Dougie is our midfield general - a bit of an unsung hero," he added.

"He will be a massive loss, but Toums [Diagouraga] has been immense recently. We will be alright."
