Brentford 2 Oldham Athletic 0
Brentford stretched their winning run to four games as they comfortably saw off Oldham Athletic 2-0 at Griffin Park on Tuesday night.
An early goal from Marcus Bean was followed up by a second half strike from Niall McGinn as the Bees played with the confidence of a side getting used to winning as they chase faint hopes of making the League One playoffs.
Bean put his side ahead in the second minute when he got on the end of a long throw from Clayton Donaldson on the left and steered it home from close range.
Brentford could have doubled their lead when Donaldson's header from a Sam Saunders corner was pushed onto a post by keeper Dean Bouzanis.
For Oldham, Filipe Morais took a cross from the left, only to see Jake Bidwell block his shot.
On loan striker Clinton Morrison did well when he latched onto a long pass over the top and burst into the box before seeing Bouzanis make a good block at his near post.
Bouzanis' goal was again under threat when Saunders' 25 yard free kick bounced off the top of the crossbar.
At the other end Morais crossed from the right and Chris Taylor headed over just before the break.
After an early chance for Saunders at the other end, Oldham enjoyed their best spell early in the second half.
Richard Lee made a good save when Shefki Kuqi burst into the box before the Brentford keeper blocked his shot.
Yet the Bees wrapped things up midway through the half when substitute McGinn got on the end of a pass from Morrison and fired past Bouzanis from inside the box.
Saunders enjoyed a late chance to extend his side's lead, bit fired his low free kick into the wall.
