Hayes is the last man in, says Rosler
12:00am Saturday 25th August 2012 in Brentford By Stuart Amos
That's all folks: Rosler says there will be no more signings this summer SP63901
Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has admitted the signature of striker Paul Hayes is likely to be his last before the transfer window closes next week.
The 28-year-old, signed from Charlton Athletic on Monday, missed a second half penalty as he had a debut to forget in the 3-1 defeat to Yeovil Town on Tuesday.
Hayes come off the bench at the same time as Harry Forrester with the scores level at 1-1 and Rosler reckoned his miss was the turning point in the game.
“We started well in the second half. Got the equaliser. Then the penalty situation and we didn’t score. Momentum went downhill,” he said.
“Paul told me he has scored many penalties in his career. I was very confident he would score.
“That was definitely the turning point.
“Bringing him and Harry on could have been a masterstroke, but it didn’t work out that way.”
He added: “I don’t think there will be more signings now.”
Defensive howlers from Tony Craig and Scot Barron on Tuesday were dismissed by Rosler as a sign of ring rustiness.
“The players coming to us have not had a pre-season. That is a fact,” he said.
“They have not played many games in pre-season.”
Bees host Crewe tomorrow.
