Kebe's Premier League warning: Don't write Crystal Palace off
Crystal Palace may be the bookies favourites for an immediate return to the Championship, but summer recruit Jimmy Kebe has warned the survival nay-sayers: “Do not write us off.”
The Eagles swoop to Old Trafford this weekend to take on the Premier League champions Manchester United.
They go there full of confidence after picking up their first points of the season prior to last weekend’s international break.
Kebe, who signed a three-year deal, has experienced relegation with Reading, but he believes Ian Holloway’s work in the transfer market has complemented an already strong squad.
“The knives are always out for the teams promoted from the Championship because the Premier League is the best and toughest league in the world,” Kebe said.
“But the boss has brought a lot of experience over the summer and there is some real quality in the side that I know we have the right squad to stay up.
“It’s going to be a challenge, no doubt about it, but it is one me, the players and everyone at the club, including the fans are up for.”
He added: “Don’t write us off. We’ll be fine.”
Kebe is yet to make a first time appearance his signing forms due a niggling groin strain.
However, the Mali international said he is not far from a return.
He said: “It is only a small injury and it will not be long before I am available, but I will need to get my match fitness back.”
