Crystal Palace midfielder Adlene Guedioura has been talking about the stresses and strains of transfer deadline day from the perspective of the players.
The 28-year-old midfielder is in the perfect place to comment having endured the waiting game on the last deadline day, only to become the final completed transfer of the summer.
Guedioura joined Palace from Nottingham Forest on a three-year for an undisclosed fee.
After suffering a puncture lung at WBA in November, the Algerian has earned plaudits for his performances since.
He said: “The summer transfer deadline day was a long day for me, because I did not know what was going to happen, or where I would be at the start of the season.
“Even when the clubs agreed a fee, I was not certain the papers would come through on time.
“In the end, it was not completed until the morning, but we got there in the end. But it was nervous and long night.”
He added: “Deadline day is the most exciting day of the transfer window because it is when there is the most movement. There can be some unexpected moves that come out of the blue.
“Personally, it is nice to be able to relax and watch it all unfold.”
