Crystal Palace have taken their first dip into the January transfer market, snapping up Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo on loan until the end of the season.

The French U21 international, who watched the Eagles beat Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and declared it a “great performance”, put pen to paper on Monday night, with the deal being announced this morning [Tuesday].

Sanogo signed for Arsenal from Auxerre at the beginning of last season, but has found first team chances limited – although he did make an appearance off the bench when the Gunners beat Hull City to win the FA Cup.

The 21-year-old made six appearances for the Gunners this season, scoring once in the Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund.
