Alan Pardew has branded the Crystal Palace who threw missiles from the Holmesdale stand on to the Selhurst Park pitch as "stupid".

It follows two incidents last week where objects were thrown onto the pitch during two separate matches.

The first saw Newcastle’s Fabricio Coloccini struck with a coin and another where an unknown object was thrown onto the pitch when Crystal Palace hosted Liverpool.

Pardew voiced his concerns about the matter, but said Palace were doing all they can do find the perpetrators.

“It’s a big concern for the club. I hope it stops because it’s something we want to take out of the game,” he said.

“We have to stamp it out and that is what the officials at this football club are trying to do.

“It can happen in the heat of the moment, but when it happens twice it’s just stupid. We can’t accept it anywhere.”

Last week's incidents at Selhurst Park were followed by racist behaviour from Chelsea fans on the Paris metro after the club’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.

Pardew says members of the public should contribute to helping authorities find those responsible for such behaviour.

“With the incident in Paris you need to use the strength of social media,” he said.

“So if a fan is standing next to someone, film them, take a picture of them so we can try do our best to find them.

“You are going to get incidents and the fans have to realise that it is damaging clubs, so the few people that have let us down need to be pointed out to us."

Pardew added that it is important misbehaving fans do not ruin the atmosphere at Selhurst Park.

“We have the best atmosphere in the country and we don’t want to lose that with silly little incidents.”
