A lifelong Crystal Palace fan was rewarded for her hard work with a day she will never forget.

For Saturday’s match against Manchester United, Karen Green was the special guest of Barclays and she and 19 of her friends were given the VIP treatment.

As well as a three course meal they had a whistlestop tour of Selhurst Park, met players and she had her photo taken on the centre circle with the team captains and mascot before the match began.

Unfortunately Palace were unable to turn over giants Manchester United, narrowly losing 2-1.

Afterwards she presented a bottle of champagne to the Crystal Palace midfielder man of the match James McArthur and he gave her a shirt signed by all the players.

Her day to remember happened as reward for being Barclays super passion hero for Crystal Palace due to her enthusiasm for the club and the work she does for Marie Curie.

The volunteer press officer for the charity, who often involves Palace players in her fundraising, said: "It was an amazing day and a once in a lifetime experience.

"We could not have been looked after better and everybody was wearing their Marie Curie daffodil pins.

"I felt like a princess for the day."
