Alan Pardew has promised Crystal Palace fans travelling to Leicester City this weekend they will see goals.

The Eagles, sixth in the Premier League, take on the Foxes, in fifth, at the King Power stadium on Saturday, with Palace hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to West Ham United.

Leicester City, under new boss Claudio Ranieri, have been one of the surprise packages so far this season, losing just once in nine games.

They have one of the best strike-forces in the league on goals, but one worst defences, having conceded 17 goals – which may explain Ranieri’s bribe of pizza for the team when they keep their first clean sheet of the season.

Pardew said: “I doubt Leicester City will be eating pizza this weekend, because we will look to give them as much offensive action as we can.

Crystal Palace’s Scott Dann has no excuses following West Ham defeat

“We carry players who can beat people and unlick defences, so the chance of this game ending 0-0 is zero.

“If you’re going to Leicester, expect to see some goals.”

He added: “And Leicester have a lot of fine players. I think their possession stats are very low, which is surprising considering their results.

“We have to be very careful we don’t open ourselves up to a counter-attack, it’s a strong team and Claudio has built on that.”

Pardew is a big fan of Italian Ranieri, who has managed at six clubs, including Juventus and Roma, as well as being national coach of Greece, since his last appearance in the Premier League in 2004 as Chelsea manager.

The Palace boss said: “We’re playing against a Leicester side who have been a surprise package this season, I don’t think anyone saw it coming.

“I really like their manager, he knows how to keep a winning run going and it will be a tough and crucial game.

“They’ve only lost once this year, and that was to Arsenal. I have great respect for him.”
