A Crystal Palace footballer has been confirmed as safe followingΒ fears he had been caught up in Friday night's terrorist attacks in Paris.

ConcernΒ had been growing for defender Martin Kelly after he posted a picture of a restaurant Cafe la Perle, a short walk from the site of multiple shootings thought to have claimed more than 120 lives.

He captioned the photo on Instagram, posted on Friday evening: "Found a decent little spot for tonightΒ #parisΒ #cafelaperle".

Palace fansΒ voiced fears for the 25-year-old's welfare on social media as horrificΒ details of the attacks emerged.

More than 100 people were reported to have died after terrorists stormed the Bataclan concert hall during a gig, while two Parisian restaurants came under fire from gunmen carrying Kalishnikovs.

Explosions were also heard at theΒ Stade de France stadium, where the national football teamΒ were playing Germany in a friendly.

Crystal Palace contacted Kelly and confirmed to fans he was "safe and well" in a tweet at 1.11am.
