Emmanuel Adebayor insists he is not out to do Arsenal any favours by beating Manchester United this evening.

The Red Devils go into the clash against Alan Pardew’s side four points adrift of Arsenal in fourth place.

The battle for the final Champions League spot is set to go down to the wire but Adebayor says he is only interested in doing favours for Eagles boss Pardew.

Asked whether he could help Arsene Wenger by beating United, the Togo international said: “I am not here to do anyone a favour, I am here to do my manager a favour.

“I play for Crystal Palace. I will do my best for my team and my teammates, who see me as a brother, and my manager.”

Palace appeared in danger of slipping into a relegation battle after a dramatic loss of form after Christmas.

However, the club are unbeaten in four games and the point gained at Arsenal on Sunday took them to 39 points – nine clear of Sunderland.

Adebayor, who is under contract until the end of the season, believes Palace are “kind of safe” ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

He added: “For me, my battle is against relegation now and we are kind of safe, that is what I know.”
