West Ham are plotting a shock move for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, according to reports.

The Belgian has been the subject of substantial interest from Crystal Palace since the summer transfer window opened.

The Eagles saw an opening bid of £25m rejected by the Reds but are reportedly weighing up a club-record £31.5m offer to land the 25-year-old.

However, Alan Pardew’s hopes of signing the talisman could be scuppered by London rivals West Ham.

The Sun say Benteke has been on the Hammers radar for several weeks and talks between the two parties will take place this week.

Benteke only joined Liverpool last summer but is set to leave the club after falling down Jurgen Klopp’s pecking order.

The former Genk man scored nine league goals during the 2015/16 season and will hope to revive his career at a new club.
