Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham wants to take his pre-season form into the new Premier League campaign.

Wickham bagged a brace against Valencia on Saturday as the Eagles sealed a 3-1 friendly victory over the Spanish club.

West Brom travel to south London this weekend to take on Alan Pardew’s side and Wickham, 23, believes the side’s preparation has gone well.

The former Sunderland frontman said: “It's good to be back and get on the scoresheet, and hopefully I'll continue that form in the league.

“It's also good to be back playing at Selhurst and get the win. I didn't expect there to be this many people but the fans came out as they always do and backed us, and I'm sure they're just as excited as us for the season.

“The league starts this week and we still have a lot to work on and stuff to build on but we're there or there abouts now.”

Wickham featured alongside Yannick Bolasie, Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend and believes the front three can trouble many teams this season.

He added: “They show their talents every day in training and I think if they gel and come together as everyone expects then we're going to have a very good attack.”
