Next three games are essential to promotion hopes, says Tolfrey

Kingstonian goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey cannot put his finger on what has gone wrong at Kingsmeadow and believes the next three fixtures will define their season.

A 2-0 defeat at home to Bury Town on Saturday dropped Ks to 10th in the Ryman Premier League, nine points off the play-offs.

Moreover, it marked six league games without a win since the 9-3 hammering of Cray Wanderers last month, as well as a third consecutive goalscoring blank.

Tolfrey, who joined Ks in 2009 from Horsham, said: “I don’t understand what’s gone wrong. Not so long ago we were one of the best teams in the division.

It’s the same players and the same management – you don’t become a bad team overnight.”

Despite the poor form, the 25-year-old is not ruling out a late surge up the table.

He said: “I always believe the league shows a true reflection of the state of play at the end of March, and so the next three games are vital.

“If we get nothing out of them, it could well be over.

“We still have faith in the boss. I’ve been here four years and it has been four years of success.”
