Carshalton Athletic chairman Paul Dipre has finally lost patience with the Robins’ dire form and sacked boss Stuart Massey.

Massey’s departure, by mutual consent, was already on the cards before last night’s 2-1 defeat to fellow strugglers East Grinstead Town.

The Robins are without a win in nine games in all competitions, and last night’s reverse leaves them just two points above the Ryman Division One South dropzone.

Reserve team manager Rob Scantlebury will be caretaker manager in the interim.

Dipre said in a club statement: “The results over the past two months have not been good enough but this decision bears no reflection upon the efforts of Stuart who has been trying hard to improve things.

"However, we have some very talented players and a first-team budget greater than most in the league. It was agreed the club is currently a long way from our pre-season expectations.

“We do have higher ambitions for the first-team then where we currently are, excellent training facilities, an exciting academy set-up and a great team of back-office staff.

“We would like to thank Stuart and wish him the best in his future endeavours.”

The club is now looking to receive applications of interest and intend to make an appointment upon finding the right one.
