Carshalton Athletic striker Tommy Bradford reckons this weekend's clash against Ramsgate is a "must win".

Bradford scored the Robins’ equaliser during an eventual 2-1 defeat against East Grinstead on Tuesday.

The reverse was the club’s fifth straight defeat in Ryman Division One South and it marked the end of manager Stuart Massey’s nine-month reign.

Speaking before the announcement that Massey had been sacked, Bradford said: “Everyone was gutted after Tuesday’s result as we wanted to win that game and, at times, it looked like we could have.

“I felt we played so well in the first-half but perhaps we relaxed a bit in the second and got punished for it.

“We ended up with five forwards on the pitch by the end but I think even a draw would’ve been considered a disappointing result after our bright opening.”

One bright spot for the diminutive forward however was his goal, a first of the season after finishing the club’s top goalscorer with 13 last time out.

“I tracked our move down the right and, as the cross came in, I collected their poor clearance and put it in,” Bradford added.

“I was over the moon – the fact I’d not been scoring has been playing on my mind but now that feeling has gone.”

Ramsgate arrive at Colston Avenue on Saturday only four places above Carshalton in 17th place, and Bradford is fired up for the encounter.

“We have to go in all guns blazing on Saturday,” he said.

“We know we have to start winning games and I believe we’ll start building some positive momentum once we get one.”
