Brentford U21 goalkeeper Mark Smith had a debut to forget as his short term loan spell at Hampton & Richmond Borough started with a 3-0 FA Trophy defeat to Grays Athletic.
The 18-year-old, who was joined in the squad be fellow Hampton new boy 19-year-old Zaki Oualah, penned a month-long move to the Beveree on Thursday as Beavers boss Alan Dowson bids to the save his side from relelgation this term.
Despite a solid first half at the Beveree for Hampton the visitors scored three times in 20 minutes in the second half to ease to victory.
Boss Dowson will hope for better at Bury Town in the Ryman Premier League next weekend.
In other Trophy action Walton Casuals crashed out 4-2 at home to Peacehaven & Telscombe, while in-form Met Police beat Billericay Town 1-0.
Ryman Division One South strugglers Walton & Hersham came close to securing a shock result at Ryman Premier League title favourites Maidstone as they crashed 3-2.
