It was more home comfort for Carshalton Athletic as they beat Walton and Hersham 1-0 to register a fifth game unbeaten at the War Memorial Ground.

Striker Tommy Bradford grabbed the only goal of the game to make it four wins and a draw on home turf since boss Rob Scantlebury took the reins last month.

Victory took the Robins up to 15th in the Ryman Division One South table and they now sit six points outside the top 10.

"I felt the win was well deserved and it feels good knowing we can ground out a positive result as they didn't make it easy," said Bradford.

"This result certainly makes up for the disappointment of conceding late equalisers in our last two games.

"We are making our home a difficult place for opponents to come to now, which is important as we look to keep picking up points."

Carshalton Athletic: Trio sign on the dotted line until 2016

The young forward was in the right place at the right time to grab his third goal of the season by empathically heading home Josh Silvera's goalbound flick on a corner.

"I make a similar type of run whenever we get corners and this time it paid off - Josh's flick fell right into my path," Bradford added.

"His header might have crept inside the far post but I wasn't taking any chances."

Carshalton go to Burgess Hill Town this Saturday and Bradford is not daunted by visiting a side beaten only once in all competitions so far this season, and unbeaten in the league.

"I won't be thinking too much about the unbeaten record," he said.

"I feel we can beat anyone on our day, so we are more than capable of going there and getting a positive result."
