Sometimes the unthinkable in football happens, and Colliers Wood United boss Tony Hurrell is hoping for just that.

United are only four wins away from an FA Vase final date at Wembley, and they go to Ascot United this weekend looking to reach to the fifth round proper.

After five wins in the FA Vase, the club are now one of the smallest left in the competition.

Their excellent form shows no signs of stopping, and United, who ply their trade in the Premier Division of the Combined Counties League, go into the tie on the back of a 3-1 win at Frimley Green.

Hurrell, pictured above, said: “We’re having the best season we’ve ever had, having made two quarter finals in cups this year and are doing well in the league, but obviously this Vase run is the main attraction now.

“There are no injuries to report so we’ll be looking to take a full squad.

“We’ve been able to score a lot of goals with some quality players, Mario Embalo has netted 29 goals in 29 games, he’s a very useful player.”

He added: “We played Ascot two years ago and lost 3-2, they’re a strong team with a very nice ground but that could suit us. We’re in great form and you never know.

“But a Wembley final is unthinkable, there’s big clubs up north and the next round goes nationwide.

“We’ve done marvellously well so far but it’s a really big ask for anything more.

“It’d put us on the map, not many people know us outside south-west London or come to watch us, we might get a few more if we got to Wembley.

“It might be best left in dreams, we can only take each game, but who knows?”
