Whyteleafe’s leading hitman Roscoe DSane should be fit for this weekend’s trip to Hastings United, as Leafe enter the business end of the season.

Boss John Fowler feared the worst when DSane was pushed into the fencing that surrounds Leafe’s 3G during their 3-2 win over Hythe Town on Saturday.

The striker had to be replaced, although he had already hit his 19th league goal of the season.

Fowler said: “The ball was going out of play, but Roscoe slipped in front of the defender to try and get it.

“The defender then gave him a two-handed shove into the fencing.

“The referee said he would not do anything because the ball was out of play, but Roscoe could have been seriously hurt.

“In the end, he’s got an impact injury on his bum, and he should be fine come the weekend.”

DSane and a Jensen Grant strike had Leafe 2-0 ahead, before the visitors, unbeaten in 2015, fought back to 2-2, before Jordan Bird’s fortuitous winner.

Fowler said: “We have a habit of throwing away 2-0 leads, but credit to the lads, they dug in and came back.

“Jordan’s winner was a cross so it was lucky, but it’s nice to get the rub of the green for a change, we’ve had plenty of those against us.”

The win, Leafe’s third on the spin, lifts them back into the Ryman Division One South play-off places.

Fowler said: “It’s important for us to get some momentum again.

“Hythe were coming into the game on the back of six unbeaten, and they won 3-0 at Faversham the weekend before, so it was a great win.”

Meanwhile, Leafe are out of the Robert Dyas League Cup after a 4-3 defeat at Ryman Premier Division Billericay Town on Monday night.
