Following a draw at second-placed Worthing last Saturday, Carshalton Athletic manager Matt Howard remains confident his squad can secure a play-off place come the end of this season.

The Robins overcame a 2-0 deficit on the south coast thanks to a brace of Tommy Bradford penalties to leave them just two points outside the top five in the Ryman Division One South table.

And, with 16 games left to play, Howard has set his charges a target ahead of a home fixture against South Park this weekend.

Football: Bradford is spot on for Carshalton Athletic

"We've told the lads we want to go for 12 wins from our remaining games and that should guarantee us a play-off position," said Howard.

"That sounds a big number but, when you look at things currently, league leaders Folkestone are where they are because they keep churning out wins week after week.

"We haven't been as consistent this season so now is the time to be so, and I believe we can because, on our day, we are the best team in this division."

Howard compared Carshalton's performance at Worthing as the proverbial "game of two halves", but he was pleased to see his side extend their current unbeaten run to three games.

"If we are serious about moving forwards then we cannot afford to play as poorly as we did in that first-half again," he added.

"That said, if we had had another 10 minutes in the second-half at Worthing then I believe we could've taken all three points.

"So we need everyone to give their all for every remaining minute of this season. I won't complain if we lose games as long as every player turns up and tries their hardest."
