Met Police's U18s might achieve nothing more with their football careers, but they will have goalkeeper Kallum Lunn to thank for the memories.

The 17-year-old saved two penalties in a FA Youth Cup third round shoot-out triumph at Championship club Burnley in December to set-up Friday’s fourth round trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He made some crucial saves in normal and extra time of that clash that finished 2-2 at Turf Moor and he is eyeing a repeat performance at Molineux for the right to host Reading in the competition's last 16.

Ready for it: Goalkeeper Kallum Lunn, who lives near Frimley, has been watching the Wolves penalty takers on video and thrives on the pressure of keeping his side in a game

Lunn was also the hero in a shoot-out win at League Two Yeovil Town in the previous round and only joined the Blues this season because he wasn’t getting any game time as a number two at Combined Counties League Premier Division Godalming Town.

And he’s pleased he made the move.

“It is a massive game for us,” said Lunn, who is eyeing a scholarship in the US when he finishes college this year.

Strikers can score goals, but they cannot save penalties. I thrive on the pressure.

“We didn’t think we would get much out of the Burnley game because they had players with first team and international experience, but here we are.

“Most of the boys won’t take their football careers much further than this.

“To be able to say we have played at these grounds and against these teamIt is certainly something to tell the grand kids.”
