Richard Jolly fears the writing is on the wall for Carshalton Athletic as the Robins lurch ever closer to Ryman Premier relegation.

Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at Tonbridge Angels kept Carshalton in the bottom four, three points from safety.

And with just ten games to save themselves, Jolly admits the morale at Colston Avenue is at an all-time low.

He said: “This is the worst I have ever known it.

“The club is a complete shambles and I do not mind putting my neck on the line by saying that.

“You sit in the dressing room and it is full of dejected faces.

“Everyone seems resigned to their fate and that angers me.

“Everyone is looking at each other for answers and no one is coming up with anything.

“We are teetering on the edge big time and everyone needs to dig in.”

The midweek reverse came on the back of a 0-0 draw with Hendon on Saturday, leaving the Robins bottom of the Ryman Premier form guide with just one win in eight games.

With Craig Faulconbridge and Charlie Ide both shown the door in the past week Athletic have failed to score in their past three games, a fact that rankles Jolly.

He added: “Craig going came as a complete shock but I think he was finding it difficult with all the travelling.

“With Charlie he just didn’t turn up for Saturday’s game and no one knew why.

“All we have been told is he has gone and it was Paul Dipre’s decision.

“We have brought in Byron Harrison but I feel sorry for him as he has come into a team bereft of confidence.

“We have to win games to stay up but you look at things and wonder how we are going to do that.

“We cannot make excuses - if it looks like rubbish and it smells like rubbish it must be rubbish and that is the state we are in.

“I have not done as well as I did last year and if we go down I will take full responsibility.

“I just hope the others would do the same as we have had far too many players that have come in, not done a job and then leave.

“Of course we can still stay up but we need to show a desire that just isn’t there at the moment.”
