Robins boss unaware of Blades interest in Nolan
12:04pm Wednesday 28th March 2012 in Carshalton Athletic
Carshalton Athletic boss Paul Dipre has admitted he was unaware of Sheffield United's interest in youngster Luke Nolan, writes James Barrett.
The 18-year-old, whose contract has an option to run until the end of next season, has impressed for the Robins this term and is reported to have caught the eye of the Blades and fellow League One outfit Stevenage.
And Dipre insisted they were not the only ones to take an interest in the former Crystal Palace trialist.
“Two other league clubs and a Championship side have registered their interest, although I was unaware of both Stevenage’s and Sheffield United’s interest until I read about it in the press,” said Dipre.
“Luke had trails with Crystal Palace at age 15, but was not signed.
“He is a very talented young man. He is good technically, has pace, strength, great ball control and he can scores goals.
“He has everything you could wish for and, being just 18, he has a massive future ahead of him.
“There is no rush, however. Luke knows that he has to keep his head down and carry on working hard.
"Nothing will happen overnight, but I am sure he will get a chance to go professional sooner rather than later.”
Nolan has racked up 30 first team appearances and scored five goals so far this season, including a cracking run and finish in Carshalton’s 5-0 FA Trophy win against Bishop’s Stortford.
