Two late goals gave Carshalton Athletic a dramatic home win over Walton Casuals on Saturday.

The Robins trailed the visitors with 79 minutes played, but Bobby Price hauled them level before Tommy Bradford hit the winner in added time.

The win means Carshalton have picked up seven points from nine over the festive period and moved them to 11th in the Ryman South Division One South table.

Price said: “We were a bit lacklustre going forward throughout but the equaliser gave us the belief to push for a winner.

“We didn’t dominate this one like we have other games recently, although I felt Jordan Higgs [making his first start in nearly two months] did well in the middle of an appalling surface.”

The young defender cut an honest figure about his third goal of the season, which had fans debating whether it had been a cross or a shot.

“I saw the keeper was off his line so I wanted to get it over him while keeping it on target,” he said.

“If it was flicked on or headed it in by someone then great, but I’m happy to get another goal, especially because it was in a win.”

Carshalton boss Rob Scantlebury has yet to suffer a home defeat since taking over in November but he fully admits that record was under threat against Casuals.

He said: “If I’m being honest I’d say Walton probably deserved a point at least. Like us, they’ve recently had to overhaul their squad but they showed they will be dangerous opposition.

“However, I was pleased with how we responded to going behind and we never gave up.

"It’s an important trait to keep picking up points when we don’t quite play to our full potential and we’ve done that in our last two games now.”

Next up for Carshalton Athletic is a visit from Horsham on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
