Carshalton Athletic boss Rob Scantlebury does not know whether he will still be in place come next season.

The Robins are safe in Ryman Division One South ahead of the league finale at Three Bridges on Saturday, but only just after a run of one win in 13 games.

He said: “When I took the job in November I was told my job was to keep Carshalton in the league, and I have done that.

“But the record does not make good reading, so I don’t know what is going to happen over the summer.

“I want to stay on, but it’s a case of whether those in charge believe I can add more value to the side.

“Who knows what life will bring, but in terms of the requirements when I came in, it is mission accomplished.

“I’ve also tried to bring the young players through the likes of Jordan [Clarke], Mickel [Miller] and Sean [O’Toole] have really improved.”

One to watch: Mickel Miller

The Robins went down 3-0 at home to Merstham last weekend, meaning they have picked up just one point from the past 24 available.

It has been a transformation since, in Scantlebury’s first eight games in charge, the Robins picked up 15 points.

He said: “We have had some injuries to key players and I’ve had to do a lot of shifting the team around.

“A couple of the lads have been off form, and it’s all hindered our progress and led us to where we are now.”

He added: “When I took over we were 22nd in the table and my focus was keeping us away from a relegation fight.

“We got to the point where we were on the verge of a play-off spot, and maybe we took our eye off the main aim and dropped back in the mix.

“But, at the end of the day, we will be playing football in Ryman Division One South next season, I just don’t know if it will be with me in.”
