Epsom & Ewell boss Glyn Mandeville has more reasons than one to push for a move back home to the borough.

The Salts, who ply their trade in the Premier Division of the Combined Counties League, currently groundshare with Chipstead of Ryman Division One South.

The club wants to return to Epsom and is in the process of attaining grants and talking to Epsom & Ewell Council about potential sites.

However, it is not just so they are back in their own community that is driving the push home.

The Salts have picked up 14 points from a possible 21 at home, but 16 from 18 on the road.

Mandeville said: “We’re having a good season and I am happy with where are at, but for some reason we don’t play as well at home.

“Chipstead have been great to us, but it is what it is and it is not home, and it means we cannot work on the pitch as we would like.

Epsom & Ewell have renewed hope of Combined Counties glory

“Sutton Common Rovers have moved back to Sutton, and speaking to people there a few Sutton United fans have bought season tickets for Rovers.

“The OAPs don’t want to go to the United away games they watch Rovers, and it is little things like that that help out massively.”

He added: “The more support you get at home the better your home record is likely to be.

“We’re hoping the council will give us a little bit of help, give us some plots to consider, and at the moment we are still looking to get grants.

“If we do move back into the borough, which is key, you’d get more supporters and would be good for the whole area.”
