While Hamilton Antonio gets his chance to impress as QPR, his Sutton Common Rovers team-mate Francois Gabbidon is just happy to be playing again.

The striker’s goals have helped turn Rovers season around, and while league form remains inconsistent, their run to the last 32 of the FA Vase has started to turn heads.

Gabbidon has certainly caught the eye with his goals this season, especially his hat-trick in the last round of the Vase which over-turned a 2-0 deficit at Eastbourne Town.

However, the former Corinthian Causals man is not bothered about the accolades, rather just getting on the pitch.

He said: “This is my season playing for three years as I’ve been out with an ankle injury that needed operations and a whole load of physiotherapy.

“I had been playing at Corinthian Casuals, and have been the reserves coach there while I got back to fitness.

“They asked if I would start playing for them again over the summer but I felt I needed to take a step down to start again.”

He added: “It’s great that Hamilton is getting the attention, and it gives the other players a boost knowing anything is possible.

“Personally, I am not looking over my shoulder hoping a scout is watching because I just want to enjoy my football, and with Rovers I am certainly doing that.”
