Carshalton Athletic made it four games unbeaten with a handsome 4-1 win over Three Bridges on Saturday, thanks in no small part to one of their young up and coming youth products.

Ricky Korboa, 19, showed great composure to grab two stunning second-half goals which catapulted his side to victory, sandwiched between an early first-half screamer by defender Ricardo Panton and a 23rd of the season for Tommy Bradford.

The result, which also completed a league double over their opponents, lifted the Robins to 10th in the Ryman Division One South table, ahead of tonight's trip to promotion-chasing Corinthian Casuals (Tuesday).

FOOTBALL: Was that the most important goal in Corinthian Casuals' season so far?

“This was a good victory earned by the whole team. We stuck to our passing game, kept it tight at the back and I was pleased to get the second and third goals,” said Korboa.

“They are a physical side, but we stuck to our game plan and it wore them down.”

Carshalton had been guilty of wasting chances to extend their lead before the break, but then Korboa took centre stage – his first came after a buccaneering 50-yard run and subsequent lob from 18 yards.

The second was a fine display of calmness inside the visitors’ area before slotting away from close range.

“I had two opponents in front of me for the first and I thought the second was going to nick the ball away from me, but I rode his challenge and was always going to try chipping the keeper as he came running out,” he added.

And the young forward, whom hit more than 30 goals for Carshalton reserves just two seasons ago, said he is looking forward to the trips to Casuals and league champions Folkestone Invicta this week.

“I’m enjoying my football right now as we are encouraged to pass the ball around and it’s helping my game develop,” Korboa said.

"We’ve won away from home in bad conditions recently and we can do so against Casuals if we keep playing our own game.”

The Robins’ rearranged trip to Corinthian Casuals kicks-off at 7.45pm.
